Privacy notice

Privacy at WattForHome

Updated 23 September 2026 · Publisher: Bankole Emmanuel

This notice describes WattForHome, an information website about backup power for Nigerian homes. Contact hello@wattforhome.com with a privacy question or a request concerning information you have sent us.

Using the calculator

The battery runtime calculator runs in your browser. Its form does not submit your capacity, appliance load or other entries to WattForHome, and it does not save those entries to browser storage. Reloading the page restores its example values.

Visiting the website

The site uses WordPress and Hostinger hosting. Requests to the server can generate technical records such as the requested address, request time, IP address and browser information. These records support hosting, security and troubleshooting. Hostinger describes its handling of personal information in its privacy policy.

WordPress uses cookies for functions such as login sessions and checking whether a browser accepts cookies. You do not need a reader account to use the published guides or calculator.

Contacting us

If you email us, your email address, message and any attachments are processed through the email services involved in delivering and handling that correspondence. We use the information to address your enquiry or correction. Please avoid sending passwords, financial account details or identity documents.

Information may remain in correspondence records, hosting logs and backups according to the relevant service settings. To ask about a particular record, or request access, correction or deletion of information you supplied, contact the address above. Any response must take account of information we can verify and applicable retention requirements.

Advertising and analytics

Google Analytics is used to understand visits to our guides, but its tracking script loads only after you select “Allow analytics”. You can decline and continue using the site. Use the “Cookie settings” button at the bottom of any page to change your choice.

With permission, Google receives page-view information, browser/device information, a cookie identifier and technical connection information such as your IP address. Our page-view code removes query strings and fragments from the page address and referrer that it explicitly sends. Calculator entries are not sent. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our tracking configuration.

Your analytics choice is stored in this browser for 180 days. Analytics cookies are configured with a 180-day expiry that may refresh with use. Clearing browser storage removes your remembered choice. Declining later stops future tracking in this browser and removes accessible Analytics cookies; it does not automatically delete historical records already collected.

Google explains its processing in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Contact us about access or deletion requests. Google AdSense has not been installed. This notice and visitor controls will be updated before adding advertising or other tracking features.

Links to other websites

Guides link to manufacturers and other sources. Visiting those links takes you to websites with their own privacy practices. WattForHome does not control how those sites process your visit.
