Solar inverter prices in Nigeria: what the quoted price actually includes
Compare inverter listings separately from batteries, panels and installation. A cheap inverter unit and a complete solar system are different purchases.

Product links go to the seller pages used for this comparison. Battery voltage and solar features below are listing information, not measurements. Where the seller omits a model code or charge-controller specification, that gap is shown rather than filled with an assumption.
| Listing and seller | Listed price | Battery system | What needs checking |
|---|---|---|---|
| PRAG 3kVA with AC/DC cables — Kara | ₦258,500 | 24 V | Cables named in offer; built-in solar controller not established. |
| Mercury 3kVA pure sine wave — Kara | ₦280,600 | 24 V | Page also says contact seller for current price; confirm by invoice. |
| Luminous 3kVA with MPPT — Kara | ₦889,500 | 24 V in title | Exact model and MPPT limits needed; URL/image label says 34 V. |
| Growatt 5kVA — Masey Solar Energy on Jumia | ₦615,000 | 48 V | Listing does not identify a precise Growatt model; request nameplate. |
| Luminous Cruze 5kVA — All Purpose Super Mall on Jumia | ₦1,269,900 | 48 V | Box contents list inverter; solar controller not established. |
These are listed prices, not supplier quotations obtained by telephone. Delivery and installation are not included in this comparison. Tax treatment, stock and final package contents need seller confirmation. Links are ordinary source links, not affiliate links.
Why can two 3kVA inverters have very different prices?
Our three 3kVA examples range from ₦258,500 to ₦889,500, but they are not equivalent offers. One specifically includes cables; another advertises MPPT solar charging. The price gap alone does not show that one is better value or that a more expensive unit will run an appliance longer.
Ask for the continuous output in watts, battery voltage, solar-input specifications and exact model code. An inverter described as “solar” may have an integrated charge controller, or it may need separate solar-charging equipment. Do not infer the included hardware from the word alone.
The Luminous listing has a useful warning sign to resolve before ordering: its heading says 24 V while its URL and image label contain 34 V. We have retained the heading’s 24 V description and flagged the inconsistency. A nameplate photograph and written model specification are more useful than guessing which label is correct.
Before choosing by price, read what a 3kVA inverter can carry. That guide separates appliance running demand, starting demand and battery runtime.
What should you compare on a 5kVA inverter?
The two 5kVA listings above show ₦615,000 and ₦1,269,900. They illustrate two offers, not the cheapest and most expensive 5kVA units in Nigeria. The Growatt listing needs an exact model identifier before a manufacturer specification can be matched to it.
For comparison, the Growatt SPF 3500 ES / SPF 5000 ES manual hosted by Fouani lists the SPF 5000 ES at 5kVA/5kW with a nominal 48 V battery input. That specification is for the named model; it does not prove the marketplace listing is an SPF 5000 ES. This is why a brand name and kVA figure are not enough.
Request a written match between the inverter, battery and any communication requirements. A 48 V-class battery label by itself does not establish that the battery’s permitted current, charging settings and communication protocol suit the inverter.
Inverter-only price versus the full setup budget
Ask suppliers to quote the following lines separately. You can then compare two offers without accidentally comparing equipment-only against an installed package.
| Cost line | What the quote should identify |
|---|---|
| Inverter | Brand, exact model, W/VA rating, battery voltage and included charger. |
| Battery storage | Quantity, chemistry, nominal kWh, documented operating limits and warranty. |
| Solar panels, if wanted | Exact model, wattage per panel, quantity and array design. |
| Installation hardware | Mounting, cable runs, protective equipment and other site-specific materials. |
| Labour and commissioning | Installation scope, checks, handover and support responsibilities. |
| Delivery and taxes | Destination, charges and final total payable. |
We have not obtained a site-specific installed quotation, so there is no invented “complete 3kVA system price” here. The required battery energy and solar array can change the budget substantially even when the inverter remains the same.
A simple quote-comparison example
Suppose two hypothetical offers both total ₦1.5 million. Offer A identifies 2.4 kWh of nominal battery storage and includes installation. Offer B identifies 4.8 kWh but excludes installation and protective equipment. The headline totals do not tell you which is suitable or cheaper once complete.
First make their scope equivalent. Then compare usable energy, output limits, support and the completed price. Do not divide system price by kVA and treat the result as a quality score.
Seven details to get in writing before payment
- Exact product identity: model code, nameplate photograph and supplied accessories.
- Appliance scope: your load list, which appliances may run together and any starting-load assessment.
- Battery arrangement: total nominal energy and the model’s permitted charge/discharge limits.
- Solar charging: whether a controller is included and the proposed array matches its specifications.
- Completed cost: batteries, panels, materials, labour, delivery and taxes shown separately.
- Warranty responsibility: who handles a claim, the written terms, exclusions and return transport.
- Handover: agreed runtime assumptions, operating guidance and commissioning records.
Common buying questions
Does a solar inverter include a battery?
Do not assume so. The inverter listings in our table do not establish a complete battery-and-panel package. A bundled offer should state the battery model, quantity and capacity explicitly.
Will a 5kVA inverter give me longer backup than a 3kVA?
Not from its rating alone. Output capacity answers how much power it can supply under specified conditions. Battery energy, appliance demand and conversion/idle losses determine runtime. Use our battery runtime calculator and 200Ah battery runtime guide to compare the storage side.
Should I buy a solar generator instead?
Compare a portable unit’s included battery energy and output with a complete installed inverter quote. Our solar generator price guide lists watt-hours alongside watts, and our inverter versus power station guide explains the practical differences.
Which inverter is best for a two-bedroom flat?
Room count is not a load calculation. A home with fans and lights differs from one using an air conditioner, water pump and cooking appliances. Start with appliance names, measured or documented watts and required hours; then have the proposed system checked against them.
For the other major equipment costs, compare our lithium battery price guide and solar panel price guide. Keep these items separate on the final system quote.
How this comparison was researched
We checked the linked product listings on 23 September 2026 and recorded the displayed price, advertised capacity and relevant information gaps. We did not test these inverters, verify warehouse inventory or assess seller service. Inclusion is not an endorsement. Manufacturer specifications must be matched to the exact supplied model.
Prices may change after this check. If a listing differs from this table, use a fresh written quote before making a purchase. Read our editorial policy or send a correction through our contact page.
