Solar generator prices in Nigeria: compare the battery, not just the watts

Five listed models, their battery capacities and the cost of adding panels. Use these figures to shortlist a setup, then confirm the final quote.

Quick answer: the five standalone units below have displayed prices from ₦262,703 to ₦798,000. That is a sample of specific listings, not a minimum or maximum for the Nigerian market. Their batteries range from 245 Wh to 1,024 Wh, so the prices are not directly comparable by output watts alone.

This guide is based on linked seller and manufacturer pages, not purchases or hands-on tests. Links are ordinary source links, not affiliate links. Prices, promotions, stock and delivery terms can change; a published price does not establish immediate availability.

Solar generator price comparison

The table uses the displayed standalone price, not the crossed-out reference price. “Solar generator” here means a rechargeable power station that accepts compatible solar input. It does not mean that a solar panel is included.

These are listing observations, not endorsements of a seller or a ranking of product quality. We have not confirmed checkout totals, local inventory or warranty eligibility for an individual buyer. The itel listing also labels its amount “Ex Tax”; ask for a final invoice rather than assuming that the displayed amount is the full payable cost.

Why a 600 W unit may last less time than a 500 W unit

Watts (W) describe the power a unit can supply at a moment. Watt-hours (Wh) describe stored energy. A larger output rating does not automatically mean a larger battery.

In this sample, the EB3A is listed at 600 W with 268 Wh, while the itel listing pairs 500 W with 1,000 Wh. The nominal-energy ratio is 1,000 ÷ 268 ≈ 3.7. That is a capacity comparison, not a promise of 3.7 times the runtime: usable capacity, conversion losses and the load also matter.

The RIVER 3 illustrates a different trap. Its page mentions a 600 W X-Boost figure, but its rated output is 300 W. Use the rated continuous output and the manual’s compatibility rules when sizing a load. A boost figure is not a substitute for normal output capability.

Similarly, an expandable model’s maximum advertised capacity may require an extra battery. The RIVER 3 Plus base unit is 286 Wh; do not budget for its expanded capacity at the base-unit price.

How much more does a solar-panel bundle cost?

The linked EcoFlow pages also show these package options. Availability needs confirmation, just as it does for the standalone units.

PackageListed package priceDifference from standalone
RIVER 3 (UPS) + 110 W portable panel₦377,330₦68,330
DELTA 3 Classic + 220 W portable panel₦1,080,000₦282,000

The differences above are subtraction of the listed package and standalone prices, not independent panel quotations. Promotions can make a bundle cheaper or more expensive than buying components separately. Confirm the cables and connectors supplied, delivery charges and whether any installation or mounting work is needed.

Do not buy a panel on wattage alone. Its voltage, current and connector arrangement must meet the power station’s documented input limits. Shade and weather also affect charging; rated panel output is not an all-day energy guarantee.

A 100 W load: see the calculation before buying

Suppose the combined average demand of your chosen devices is 100 W. For an illustrative comparison, assume 90% usable battery capacity and 90% conversion efficiency, with no separately counted idle draw. The calculation is:

Estimated hours = nominal Wh × 0.90 × 0.90 ÷ 100 W.
268 Wh gives about 2.2 hours. 1,000 Wh gives about 8.1 hours.

Those percentages are modelling assumptions, not measured results for the products above. They exclude battery ageing and changes in consumption. A refrigerator or freezer cycles on and off and may need substantial starting power, so a simple average-wattage estimate does not establish compatibility.

Before you pay: seven details to get in writing

  1. Exact model and regional version. Get the model code, AC voltage, frequency and socket type—not just “1,000 W solar generator.”
  2. Battery capacity and usable limits. Ask for Wh and the relevant manual. “Peak watts” is not battery capacity.
  3. Your appliance list. Confirm continuous demand, starting requirements and output-port limits for the equipment you actually own.
  4. Package contents. Name the panel, charging cables, adapters and any extra battery on the quote.
  5. Final cost and delivery. Confirm taxes, shipping location, stock and dispatch date. Do not treat a pre-order as stock ready to ship.
  6. Warranty route. Ask who handles faults in Nigeria, which documents are required, what is excluded and who pays transport.
  7. Charging and transfer behaviour. Check how quickly the unit can recharge during your available electricity window and whether its switchover suits your devices.

If the equipment will connect to household circuits, have a qualified installer assess the connection and protection. A portable station and a professionally installed inverter system are different purchases; our inverter-versus-power-station comparison explains the trade-offs.

Common questions

Can I use a solar generator without buying a panel?

Many models, including those linked here, support mains charging. You can use a compatible charging source without solar panels, but check the supplied charger and the model’s instructions. Solar charging remains an additional option, not energy produced by the battery itself.

Can a solar generator power a freezer?

Possibly, but the name “solar generator” and a large Wh number are not enough to decide. Compare your freezer’s running and starting requirements with the unit’s output limits, then estimate energy over the hours you need. Ask for a model-specific compatibility answer rather than accepting a blanket yes.

Which is the cheapest model?

The EB3A has the lowest displayed price in this five-model sample. That does not make it the cheapest in Nigeria or the lowest-cost way to meet your particular load and runtime requirements. The table is a shortlist aid, not an exhaustive market survey.

Sources and checking method

Each model name in the table links directly to the product listing used. We recorded the displayed price and capacity/output information, kept standalone and panel-bundle prices separate, and flagged ambiguous availability. We did not place orders, test the units or verify seller service quality. The comparisons and runtime arithmetic are our own worked examples.
